Babylon, gardens and all

Smell man
mix of funk, food and couture
mind out of religion
strained, caught and whipped
flag of the city
international

City lights a fool's heaven
stone, smoke and steel
geometry of humanity

Under each erection
Strangers cast nets
breaking under the weight of abundance
caught by their own catch

Fish thrive
quicksilver in dark, dangerous places
abortion the convenience of
foreign languages

Still life
shards of art displayed as
edges and precipices of human soul

Sepia stains of giants
stand stern over the color of vanity
promising the world, right here
Babylon, gardens and all
